Disney+ & Scentsy

This commercial for Disney+ and Scentsy was my first collaboration with the talented team at NUContext, and it was designed to capture the magic of Disney through a bold, colorful, and heartfelt story. Directed by Kendall Goldberg, the spot tells the story of a young girl visiting her grandmother’s house for the first time. Guided by the comforting scent of a Lilo and Stitch stuffed animal and her grandmother’s Scentsy candle, she discovers a sense of home and belonging in this warm, new environment.

As Director of Photography, I focused on creating a soft, inviting, and pastel-driven visual palette that mirrored the emotional heart of the story. We shot on Panavision H-Series lenses, whose vintage character gave skin tones a gentle warmth and softened the imagery for a nostalgic, Disney-inspired look.

The production design, led by Dylan Hutchins, transformed a real home location into a space filled with color and texture, evoking the magical yet familiar feel of a childhood memory. Large HMI sources were placed outside windows to maintain a consistent daylight tone throughout, while warm sunset-inspired lighting was introduced later in the piece to heighten intimacy and create a sense of comfort as the story resolved.

Working with NUContext was an amazing experience, and their attention to detail, from wardrobe to set design, elevated the commercial into something truly cinematic. Colorist Tyler Roth added the final touch, enhancing the pastel tones and bringing cohesion to the palette.

The result is a vivid, emotional commercial that pairs the recognizable Disney+ brand with Scentsy’s identity, proving that scent, color, and memory are powerful ways to tell stories.
